Understanding Degree Audit Reports

You can run a Degree Audit Report to see how you are progressing with your degree. Reports look like, and follow the same general layout as, annotated Degree Descriptions and contain either more or less detail depending on the type generated.

Degree Audit Reports provide you with information on:

While there are a number of different report types depending on your institution, two of the most common are the Short Report and the Full Report.

Short Report

The Short Report contains only minimal Degree Audit information.

A checkmark Completed Requirement Checkmark indicates that a requirement is complete and is accompanied by the message "This requirement is (will be) satisfied."

An X Incomplete Requirement X Mark indicates that a requirement is incomplete and a text message informs you how many units or courses are needed to satisfy this requirement.

In each case, completed courses that have been applied are listed in the requirement box.

Full Report

The Full Report combines complete Degree Description and Degree Audit information, giving you full visibility on your progress. Like the Short Report, the checkmark Completed Requirement Checkmark and X Incomplete Requirement X Mark tell you whether a requirement is complete or incomplete.

In addition, two icons indicate course status:

Each course applied to a requirement is followed by a series of comma-separated values in parentheses. For instance, you might see:

CHE110 (4, FS05, A, S017)

This means that for the course CHE110, you earned 4 units, completed the course in the fall semester of 2005 and your grade was A. The last value, in this case S017, is an institution-defined designation.

NOTE: Your grade will be expressed as a number if your institution uses a numerical grading system.

If you have not completed the course, instead of a grade, you will see:

A course will be Unused if it cannot be counted towards your degree due to a violation of a Degree Condition (for example, if you take too many courses of a certain type). Some courses cannot be counted towards your degree under any circumstances: these appear in the Does Not Apply box.

The last part of the Full Report consists of two lists: Courses Used for this Program and Courses Unused for this Program. If a course (Completed, Current or Selected) has been applied to a requirement, then it appears in the Courses Used list; otherwise it appears in the Courses Unused list.

TIP: Examining the Conditions section of your report may help you determine why a course is unused.
